Sports programs expand as new year begins

Biola University is growing at a rapid pace; this incoming class of students is the largest in the school’s history. Among them are over 100 new athletes who have joined the Biola athletic arena. Women’s volleyball starts season in fourth place nationally

The Biola women’s volleyball team kicks off its 2008 campaign ranked fourth after making it to the semifinals of last year’s national championship. They look to build on that effort in the hyper-competitive GSAC after returning all of their starters, while coach Aaron Seltzer has also brought in five freshman recruits.

Men’s soccer takes down another team

Against Chapman University, Kennedy Chongo, a sophmore transfer, scored within the first half hour of the game to bring Biola to a win. He also helped in the victory against Westminster College in his assist to player Marco Ruvalcab.
