Point Loma picked up its first conference win 2-1 against Biola on Saturday, Oct. 4, dropping the Eagles to 1-2-0 in conference play and 5-3-0 overall.

The Eagles attempted only three shots on goal by the end of the first period but pushed in the second with a more forceful game plan. Although the Eagle offense outshot their opponents in the second period, the Sea Lions took advantage of their goal opportunities early.

Biola forward Brittany Neill scored the only goal of the game in the 61st minute, but Point Loma’s Kari Moore and Rebecca Lewis each combined for two goals to pull their team over the top.

The Eagles were shortly back on the road in a game against Fresno Pacific’s Sunbirds on Tuesday night.

Two early goals from the Sunbirds’ offense set the pace for the rest of the match. However, the Eagles fought back with goals from Brittany Neill, Caitlyn Peterson and Ashley Moseley all in the second half of regulation match time carrying the game into overtime.

The intensity kept pace as chances were created on both ends of the field, but the game winner came in the second overtime when a hand ball was called against an Eagle defender, allowing for the Sunbirds to win in a 4-3 golden goal decision.

Now 5-4-0, women’s soccer is back at home on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 4:30 p.m. for a GSAC conference game against the visiting Concordia Eagles.
