The Biola men’s basketball team traveled south to play San Diego Christian College Feb. 7. The Hawks stood 0-10 in the Golden State Athletic Conference and were on an eight game losing streak before they played the Eagles for the second time this season.

Despite their early season conference woes, San Diego led the Eagle 39-29 at half. Freshman guard Blake Shannon Jr. led Biola with nine first-half points in 10 minutes off the bench.

The Eagles were able to answer in the second half. Biola tied the game with 16:49 left in regulation thanks to a steal and layup by sophomore guard Dakari Archer. The teams continued to exchange baskets until the last five minutes in the game when Biola ran away with the lead. The Eagles outscored the Hawks 46-24 in the second half, for a final score of 75-63.

Senior guard Pierre Zook led Biola with 25 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals, followed by senior Mike Kurtz with 16 points and seven rebounds. Archer also came away with a season high of four steals to accompany his 13 points.

The Eagles now hold a season record of 16-9 and stand 4-7 in conference games. Their next game is away against No. 2 Hope International University on Feb. 14. Hope is currently first in GSAC and beat Biola 65-40 earlier this season.
