Biola Men’s Lacrosse was pressed hard in the away season opener, losing 17-4 to the SLC Division 1 Claremont Cougars.

Claremont played a rough, technical game, constantly challenging Biola’s defense. Several Biola players suffered injuries and were exhausted by a roster twice the size of their own.

As a result, many Eagles were forced to play out of position. Senior midfielder and captain David Sigley led Biola with two of its goals in the first half.

The Cougars put up seven goals before halftime, leaving the Eagles with a wearisome deficit. In the second half, sophomore attacker Jeff Clark tacked on Biola’s two last goals, receiving assists from Sigley.

The Cougars increased their lead in the third quarter and were not slowed down until the fourth quarter. Stepping up to the challenge, the Biola defense composed itself before the end of the match, demonstrating that it has the potential to develop into a formidable opponent.
