The sky turned orange and the air thickened Saturday as smoke and ash from fires burning in as close as Brea blanketed the campus and the greater Los Angeles area. Fast-moving winds and temperatures in the 90s spurred on earlier fires burning north of Los Angeles in Montecito and Sylmar, and started fires east of Biola in Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills and Corona.

“Radio Jesus” to speak at chapel

Neil Saavedra, producer and host of 'Jesus Christ Show', concluded the Defending the Faith series in chapel on Friday.
A man who impersonates Jesus on the radio will speak tomorrow at chapel on how Jesus would argue. Neil Saavedra, who prefers to refer to himself as the producer of his “Jesus Christ Show” on Los Angeles’ KFI-640 AM rather than the host (though he really is both), will be the concluding speaker of the Defending the Faith chapel series, sponsored by the Christian apologetics department.

Sophomores Colin Cabalka and Adeboye “Boye” Fajinmi just won a trip to Jamaica. If that doesn’t suit them, the Biola cinema and media arts majors can choose to head to Acapulco, Cancun, or the Bahamas for their spring break, and do it without spending a dime. That’s because their “Why Biola Rocks” video won the grand prize in a U.S. News & World Report video contest, “Why My School Rocks!” on Nov. 3.

Why you should vote for McCain

In the midst of midterms and Torrey conference, it can be hard to remember that this Tuesday is Election Day. But it is, and you should vote. Regardless of who you intend to endorse, you should vote. Democracy is dysfunctional when educated citizens fail to engage in the political system, as that causes under representation and increases the influence of a disproportionately active minority.
