Dorm of the week: Sigma Chi

Dorm of the week: Sigma Chi
While Sigma Chi, located just down the road from Alpha Chi, might be considered “the dorky dorm,” it actually has some pretty cool features. Built in 1977, Sigma provides a unique housing experience, through its suite-style rooms and distinctive building shape.

Cooling off with Céfiore

When you first arrive at 5231 Beach Boulevard, instead of immediately seeing a frozen yogurt store, the Beach and La Mirada Car Wash looms in direct view. Upon entering the parking lot, you remember seeing the “Céfiore: Italian Frozen Yogurt/Coffee” sign under that of the “Carwash Special,” but there seems to be no frozen yogurt store in sight. You pull into one of three rows of parking stalls, wondering if you came to the right place.

The subtle differences in bottled water

While there are many brands of bottled water to choose from, each one has something 'extra something' which makes each one unique.
Do you drink Arrowhead just because that’s the water your mom always bought from Costco? Or do you prefer Dasani because it has a “crisper” taste, distinct from other bottled water companies? Ever wonder what sets Evian apart from the rest? While there are many brands of bottled water to choose from, each one is slightly different.

Pickett’s perfect place

Todd Pickett has taken the position of associate dean of spiritual development this year, in which he oversees chapel and oversees previous Chaplain duties. Photo by Mike Villa
Todd Pickett listens to Radiohead. He’s also a Talking Heads fan. Todd Pickett’s favorite Wes Anderson film is “Rushmore,” he legitimately loves Russian lit, and actually understands it. Officially (and unofficially), Pickett is not the new Ron Hafer, but he is the new face of chapel.

Disneyland kicks it up a notch for Halloween

Starting the last week in September, Disneyland and California Adventure will be are transformed into a place of Halloween celebration.
Prior to transferring to Biola University last year and owning an annual pass to Disneyland, I had no idea how big a deal Halloween was at the Happiest Place on Earth. Last year, upon entering the theme parks at this time, I could not help but stare at the flurry of activity surrounding me for a few minutes!

Tips for academic success

Even though the new semester has just begun, many students are beginning to show signs of stress and work anxiety.
Even though the new semester has just begun, you may already feel bogged down with homework or have even fallen behind. With reading to do for Old Testament class and a paper already assigned for your English literature class, the first waves of stress and anxiety might begin to hit you as you stare at multiple assignment sheets and don’t know where to start.
