If you’re not a Disneyland fan and would rather experience something other than Halloween Time, visit Knott’s Scary Farm for a little more “grown-up” Halloween humor. The Haunt at Knott’s Berry Farm is an extremely popular event and has been presented at the amusement park since 1973. This year brings the 36th annual Knott’s Scary Farm from Sept. 25 through Nov. 1. This event will take place Wednesday through Sunday nights of each week.

During this ticketed event, major areas of Knott’s Berry Farm transforms from friendly fairgrounds to a large, “haunted house” attraction, featuring mazes and “scare zones” in the evenings. Various attractions are specially decorated for this event, and monsters hired to scare you definitely add to the chilling atmosphere.

In addition to its seven returning mazes, this year’s Knott’s Scary Farm features six new mazes, including a movie tie-in with the horror movie “Quarantine.”

The Labyrinth: A dark, mysterious journey awaits you in the forgotten forest and creepy catacombs that lie beneath a ruined castle. A cursed royal court still haunts the castle chambers, and you will have to find your way through the twisted labyrinth. Beware: a myriad of menacing monsters lurk in the depths of the dark corridors.
Slaughterhouse: Upon entering this maze, you may be reminded of a traditional farmhouse. Guess who’s the first one to be sold off to be butchered? Travel through the slaughterhouse, where you can experience being auctioned, butchered and transformed into tasty, tenderized meat.
Club Blood: Explore the world of the undead while hypnotic music pounds in your head and you see visions of zombies. This is certainly no nightmare … this city that never sleeps is full of fearsome, un-departed folk.
Cornstalkers: This maze makes you feel like Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz,” as the surrounding corn reminds you of Kansas. However, now it’s your turn to race home while you are chased through the cornfields by minions of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Alien Annihilation 3-D Laser Tag: You find yourself in the midst of a frightening alien war. Your only hope for survival: your mega-thrust round repeater rifle. Be ready to take on a horde of alien invaders that pose the next immediate threat to planet Earth.
“Quarantine” movie tie-in: Modeled after the movie, this freakishly scary maze is sure to give you chills. According to the story, the U.S. government issued an emergency order sealing off an apartment in Los Angeles in March 2008. Although a hazmat team was sent to investigate the quarantined building, authorities have denied any knowledge of the incident. No news about the residents (who had disappeared) or explanations were offered. Find out the story’s ending in this menacing maze.

There are also seven mazes returning to the park, some of which were featured for the first time last year.

Lost Vegas in 3-D: This creepy, condemned casino is ready for you to enter … if you’re willing to take a gamble.
The Doll Factory: Visit an old, abandoned toy factory, the former abode of the Marionette Murder and his beautiful porcelain dolls-turned-victims. Hopefully you escape in one piece!
Killer Clown Kollege: Here’s one college you’ll be glad you didn’t apply to! Tour the halls of Clown University, where clowns reveal their real selves from behind their masks.
Pyromaniax: A tragic factory accident results in a deadly fire. But wait, the story’s not over … toxic waste turns the flames into lethal fumes, transforming all those around you into vicious mutants. Try to avoid burnin’ up … and deadlier fates!
Black Widow’s Cavern: Avoid awful arachnids that thrive in an abandoned mine. As you ride a rail of horror in the old mine, be careful not to get tangled in any webs.
The Asylum: In this residence for the frenzied, try to maintain your sanity. Things may get a little wild when you discover that the residents are actually not the most demented individuals there.
13 Axe Murder Manor: A formerly magnificent Victorian mansion now lies deserted and designated as off-limits. Discover the history of horrible ax murders as you explore the manor filled with spiteful spirits.
