For Christian students, it can be beneficial to learn important topics about faith, apologetics and theology. However, it’s often a struggle to find time to dedicate oneself to studying these things, especially with all the work that is involved with being a student as well as a young adult.
Podcasts can help a busy person dive into such topics while also saving time. Here are three podcasts that can satisfy your curiosity and give you a deeper understanding as a believer in Christ.
PASSAGES
“Passages” is a podcast by the Christian media organization “Mere Orthodoxy” which aims to unpack the meaning and history of the Nicene Creed, in response to the modern perceptions about other religious creeds.
There is an emphasis on learning about the events, people and movements surrounding the formation of the Nicene Creed. The podcast also addresses issues that both Christians and non-Christians might have with the Nicene Creed, especially with its claims and controversial actions of those who have adhered to it throughout the history of the church and Christendom. It takes a look at an ancient document to address modern issues. And through it all, it goes back to the important question:What do we believe?
THE C.S. LEWIS PODCAST
“The C.S. Lewis Podcast” with Professor Alister McGrath from the Christian digital ministry “Premier Insight” is, as the name suggests, about C.S. Lewis. But more so than just being a modern mouthpiece for C.S. Lewis, the podcast seeks to unpack the famous British apologist’s life, ideas, works of literature and his impact on culture, both past and present. It’s a podcast that will appeal to all sorts of people. There are episode topics ranging from the study of Lewis’ literary works, to how his life—and those around him—influenced his work. It’s a podcast full of apologetics, literature, biography, faith and culture, all in one.
TRUTH UNITES
“Truth Unites” is a Youtube channel hosted by Gavin Ortlund, a pastor, theologian and apologist for the Christian faith. While “Truth Unites” is a Youtube channel, audio versions of the Youtube videos are put in a podcast format on Spotify.
The podcast touches on topics such as dialogue between Catholics and Protestants, arguments for and against God, discussions about cultural issues and devotional content. Ortlund provides a compassionate and gentle representation of Christianity, while not letting go of rigorous theological foundations.
