Crime Log Oct. 13–Oct. 17

This week’s Crime Log includes fire, tampering with fire alarms, petty theft and defrauding an innkeeper.

Mechanical Fire — Lot F

Reported Oct. 14 at 12:55 p.m., occurred prior.

A brushfire started in the bushes next to Fluor Fountain. Campus Safety responded to the fire and used seven fire extinguishers to put out the flames. The report is closed. More information is available on the Chimes newspaper website.

Defrauding an Innkeeper — Café

Reported Oct. 13 at 4:32 p.m.

Officers made contact with an individual who admitted to coming onto campus with intentions to eat at the Café without paying. Campus Safety asked the individual to leave campus and issued a trespassing warning.

Tampering With a Fire Alarm — Sigma Hall

Reported Oct. 16 at 10:09 p.m.

Officers became aware of the incident when the fire alarm was activated in Sigma Hall. While responding to the call, officers discovered the tampered alarm. The case is still active.

Petty Theft — Horton Hall

Reported Oct. 17 at 11:38 p.m., occurred prior.

A student’s property was stolen within 40 minutes before the incident was reported. The theft occurred while a student was moving items from a car in Lot K to their dorm room in Horton. The investigation remains active.
