The Eagles men’s water polo team wrapped up their season on Sunday, Nov. 23 after losing the championship game of the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA). The game ended with a 9-5 loss to Concordia University, which was held in Geneva, Ohio, bringing an end to the first season under new head Coach Jens Cole.
FINAL MATCH RECAP
Concordia pushed Biola hard throughout all four quarters, their offense proving too much for the stout Biola squad to overcome.
Senior health and science major, Joshua Dachenhausen, worked incredibly hard, making 10 saves and giving his team a fighting chance. Freshman engineering major Levi Bengelink scored three out of Biola’s five goals.
The men’s team finished this season with a record of 10-21, guided by first year head coach Jens Cole. Making it to the conference finals shows great signs as to where the program may head in the future.
LOOKING FORWARD
The team’s run in the WWPA championship demonstrates the growth and potential in the program, their experience this season could serve as a strong foundation. While the title slipped away this time, the team showed great promise for their next season.
