In the ever shifting media landscape, the best newsrooms are those who know when to adapt. As technologies and consumer preferences change, the most agile teams are always quick to follow. For The Chimes, this meant launching our digital presence back in 2007 after delivering print newspapers to Biola students since 1937. Now it is time to make another such shift.
Beginning in Fall 2025, three of Biola’s student-run media outlets — The Chimes, The Point magazine, and The Torch podcast network — will unite under a single brand: The Chimes Media Group. This merger marks a strategic shift toward a more collaborative and agile media team, better suited to the challenges of a university news outlet.
The Chimes Media Group will provide a central hub for students to engage with Biola’s on-campus media. We know students consume content across a range of platforms — and we want to meet them there. A more integrated approach to our reporting will allow us to feature our work in print, video and podcast formats.
This convergent approach mirrors what top media organizations like The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal are already doing — and now, we’re bringing that same innovation to Biola.
