Cameron Huelin, a 2024 Biola business major and Torrey Honors College alumnus, passed away on Mar. 18, 2025. The Torrey community held prayer services for Huelin after he discovered he had a malignant brain tumor in the fall of 2022. He met his wife, Allie Wells, a 2023 biology and pre-medicine Biola alumna. They were married in the summer of 2023.
“He was truly a man of God,” said Allie Huelin. “He was someone who lived each day thinking about how he could share the gospel and be a light to others. He never let cancer stop him from doing that. I know he inspired me and so many others to live in faith and hope, even through the most difficult circumstances. It has been the greatest honor and joy of my life to be his wife and to witness all that God did through him.”
Tamarin Huelin, Cameron Huelin’s mother, added, “Cameron’s time at Biola was richly formative. We recall him saying that in military training at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), he was learning how to act, sometimes without thinking, and at Biola, he learned how to think before acting.”
Tamarin Huelin went on to express her appreciation for those belonging to the Biola community.
“We are particularly grateful for the Torrey Honors College faculty and staff, especially his mentor Dr. Diane Vincent, the Business School faculty and staff and Dr. Tamra Hocking at the Biola health clinic,” Tamarin Huelin said. “The friendships formed there and the prayers and support of the community for him, Allie and our family were gifts we won’t easily forget.”
Haley Carlson, a junior allied health major, met Cameron Huelin when she came to Biola as a freshman.
“I remember him being such a kind and gentle seer who made us feel welcomed in Torrey and equipped for the work ahead of us. He acknowledged the difficult nature of college and the Torrey program but that God had incredibly good things in store for us through the difficulty,” said Carlson. “After his diagnosis, the Torrey community came together on multiple occasions to intercede and bring him before the Lord. It was beautiful to see the love and support for him and those close to him. That same love and support is ongoing. The ache of grief goes beyond words, and yet the comfort of the Lord surpasses all understanding. The love of the Torrey family seems to be ever strengthened in the face of loss and mourning, and there are prayers being lifted for peace, strength and comfort for Cam’s family and friends.”
Tamarin Huelin reflected on her son’s life and her hope despite the tragedy.
“Cameron was never afraid of doing hard things with God and [with] God’s people surrounding him. We thought that combat was the hardest thing he was preparing for, but it turned out that cancer was the hardest thing,” Tamarin said. “We are confident that his labor was not in vain and that we will see him again at the resurrection. Until that time, we will miss him greatly and cherish the many wonderful memories we have with him.”
According to the Medina Funeral Home and Cremation Service’s website, a visitation and funeral was held on Mar. 22. It also features ways to support Huelin’s family such as ordering memorial trees and adding to a tribute book. The website also asks to consider donating to Allie to help financially instead of sending flowers.
