The spring semester is underway and the Conservatory of Music has lined up several events in the upcoming months of February, March and April. These events showcase Biola’s musical talent and are a great way to take a break from the busy semester ahead.

FEB. 6-9: SHE LOVES ME
Premiering at the start of February is “She Loves Me,” a romantic comedy musical being performed by the Biola Music and Theatre. This story follows two shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, who unknowingly exchange love letters with each other.
The musical will be performed from Feb. 6 to Feb. 9 at Lansing Recital Hall. Specific times as well as ticket prices are available here.
FEB. 12: MUSIC AT NOON WITH PIANIST SOOKKYUNG CHO
Music at Noon showcases Conservatory adjunct professor Beth Nam alongside guest pianist Sookkyung Cho. They will be performing piano music for 4-hands.
This event will take place on Feb. 12 at 12:30 p.m. in the Lansing Recital Hall. The event is free for everyone.
FEB. 19: COMPOSITION CONCERT
The Composition Concert is an event that showcases original music compositions by Conservatory students.
This event will take place on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lansing Recital Hall and is free for everyone.
FEB. 21: CONSERVATORY FACULTY TRIO CONCERT
Biola Conservatory faculty Elizabeth Larson, Keith Williams and Li-shan Hung will be performing works by several classical composers. They will be joined by violist Che-Yen Chen.

FEB. 23: SYMPHONIC WINDS SPRING CONCERT
The Symphonic Winds ensemble under the direction of Dr. Karl Meyers will be performing on Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. in the Lansing Recital Hall. Ticket prices are available here.
FEB. 28: BIOLA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA SPRING CONCERT
The Symphonic Orchestra will be performing classics such as Franz Schubert’s “Unfinished Symphony.”

MARCH 14: GUEST ARTIST RIQUE PANTOJA
The Conservatory will be welcoming Rique Pantoja to play Brazilian jazz music. He is a well-renowned Brazilian composer, songwriter, arranger, singer and pianist who has worked with many high-profile artists and has made music for movie soundtracks as well.
He will be performing on March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ethel Lee Auditorium. Ticket prices are available here.
MARCH 23: CHORAL ENSEMBLES SPRING CONCERT
The Biola Chorale and University Chorus ensembles will be performing on March 23 at 5 p.m. in Lansing Recital Hall. Tickets are available here.
MARCH 24: PIANO AREA RECITAL
Conservatory piano students will be performing a night of piano music on March 25 at 6 p.m. in Lancing Recital Hall. The event is free for everyone.
MARCH 25: CHAMBER MUSIC RECITAL
Several student ensembles from the Conservatory will be performing music on March 25 at 7:30 p.m. in Lancing Recital Hall. The event is free for everyone.
MARCH 28-30: NIGHT OF STUDENT-DIRECTED ONE-ACT PLAYS
The Biola Theatre will be presenting two student-directed plays, which are both one act each.
“No Exit,” directed by Natalie Wilson, is a story of three strangers finding themselves in a small room in hell. They come to realize that hell is not torture, but “other people.”
“Gun and a Motel Bible,” directed by Makenzie Pappan, is a story about Pete who is planning to murder a man who had an affair with his wife. As he ponders what to do, he is given wisdom and reflection by Gideon, a personified Bible.

MARCH 28: JAZZ ENSEMBLE
The Biola Jazz Ensemble will be performing a night of jazz favorites on March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ethel Lee Auditorium. Tickets are available here.
APRIL 2: POP ENSEMBLES
The Worship Arts and Commercial Music Pop Ensembles will be performing songs from the 1970s on April 2 at 7:30 p.m. along the Student Union Building walkway. This event is free for everyone.
APRIL 23: MUSIC AT NOON WITH THE PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE
The Percussion Ensemble will be performing a Music at Noon on April 23 at 12:30 p.m. in the Lansing Recital Hall. This event is free for everyone.
APRIL 23: OPERA SCENES
The Biola Vocal Area will be performing scenes of meetings and farewells from operas by famous composers such as Gilbert and Sullivan.
