Crime Log ― Aug. 27 – Sept. 17

This crime log includes vandalism and extortion.

Hit and Run — Alpha Hall

Reported on Aug. 27, occurred between Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. and Aug. 27 at 1:40 p.m.

A student vehicle was scratched in a hit and run in the Alpha parking lot. The case is still active. 

Hit and Run — Off Campus

Reported on Aug. 28, occurred on Aug. 28 at 9:40 p.m.

A student vehicle was damaged in a hit and run on El Espejo Road. The case was cleared by exception. 

Burglary — Rosecrans Apartment 2

Reported on Sept. 1, occurred on Sept. 1 between 6:30 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.

An intruder broke into the laundry room of Rosecrans Apartment 2, a Biola-owned apartment used for graduate housing, and stole quarters from the washing machine. The amount of suspects and money stolen remains unknown. A report has been filed with the Los Angeles County sheriff. 

Petty Theft — Hope Hall

Reported on Sept. 2, occurred between Aug. 31 at 1:10 p.m. and Sept. 2 at 2:58 p.m.

A student reported that they left their AirPods on their desk to charge and believed they were stolen. The student decided not to file an official report. 

Hit and Run — Lot P

Reported on Sept. 2, occurred Sept. 2 at 1:47 p.m.

A witness called Campus Safety stating that they saw a hit and run. Campus Safety officers made contact with the vehicle owner as well as the driver involved in the hit and run and both parties confirmed there was no damage. 

Vandalism — Fluor Fountain

Reported on Sept. 6, occurred prior to Sept. 6 at 6:36 a.m.

Students put soap in the Fluor Fountain and Facilities Management came to clear the bubbles. The case was not referred to the sheriffs’ department but remains active. 

Hit and Run — Jesus Saves Parking Garage (Lot S)

Reported on Sept. 6, occurred on Sept. 1 between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

A student reported damage to their vehicle following a hit and run. There is currently no known suspect. 

Extortion — Sigma Chi

Reported on Sept. 14, occurred between Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m. and Sept. 14 at 8:30 p.m.

A person who is unaffiliated with Biola made contact with a student and attempted to extort money. Chief of Campus Safety John Ojeisekhoba explained that these extortion calls are happening more frequently as people from outside the university try to extort money from students. The case was referred to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

Hit and Run — Lot G

Reported on Sept. 17, occurred between Sept. 16 at 9:15 p.m. and Sept. 17 at 3:45 p.m.

A student reported damage to their vehicle following a hit and run. The case remains active.
