The Eagles traveled north to San Francisco, Calif. yesterday afternoon to take on the Academy of Art Urban Knights. Coming off a recent win, Biola was locked in and focused to continue the streak. It was a nail-biter, but the Eagles were able to come out on top with the win, 4-3.

Biola swept the Urban Knights in the doubles matches with relative ease. First to finish was the freshmen duo, Brooke Fager and Lily McNeill, with a 6-2 victory. Freshman Colbyshae Emery and sophomore Maria Brascia followed suit with a 6-4 victory. Freshmen Amelia Kitts and Gaby Carvajal took their doubles to the wire, but secured the final match with a 7-5 win.

However, the singles matches were not as clean of a defeat. Emery, Fager and Carvajal all lost to the Urban Knights. McNeill took her individual matches to three sets, winning the final in a tight score of 7-6. Brascia took her No. 5 singles easily with two rounds of a 6-2 victory. Sophomore Ines Diaz won her No. 6 individual with a first set of 7-5, but won in the second due to her opponent retiring.

The Eagles (4-2) will venture to San Rafael, Calif. to compete against Dominican University on March 2 at 12 p.m.

[email protected]  Originally from a small farm town in Ohio, I have put aside my corn shucking gloves to embrace a new life in the Angel City to study sports journalism. It is true what they say about culture shock and LA traffic. I am used to being late to work because of getting stuck behind a John Deere tractor, but now it is because of gridlock on the I5. However, I have quickly adjusted to the city life and haven’t looked back since. I moved from the midwest out to Los Angeles over two years ago. Since then my life has changed in big ways. I have learned the importance of pursuing my dreams in order to make them a reality. Sports have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From the time I was able to stand up on my own, there was always a ball in my hand. Basketball quickly became my MO. I was involved in multiple athletic organizations, traveling on AAU teams and playing my way through my middle and high school league. My passion for the sport is what inspired me to pursue a career in sports journalism. Being at a place like Biola that has an abundance of opportunities has allowed me to expand from my small-town roots, and that is something I am truly thankful for.
