The trial date for “The Shield” actor Michael Jace was postponed to allow Michael’s lawyers to receive images of the contents of April Jace’s cellphone for evidence of an extramarital affair according to the New York Daily News.

Charged for murder of wife

April, a financial aid counselor at Biola, was married to Michael for nearly 11 years. Michael is accused of shooting April in the evening of May 19, 2014 and was arrested later that night.

Michael dialed 911 that evening to say he shot his wife with a gun and to have someone pick up their three kids. Currently, the kids are living with other family members and are being raised with their cousins. A gofundme was set up to take care of April’s children, raising approximately $34,000.

New trial date

Though the trial for her alleged murder was set for Jan. 25, 2016, the new trial date has been pushed back to March 8, 2016. The actor has been accused of one count of murder with a gun and his bail set at $2 million, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office news release.

Jason Sias, Michael’s defense lawyer, requested access to April’s cellphone to prove Michael’s actions were not premeditated. Jurors chosen for the case will decide whether the murder was premeditated or if Michael was provoked.

The trial will be held at Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center on Tues. March 8 at 8:30 a.m and both sides will be expected to attend according to an article by New York Daily News.
