At the AS Senate’s weekly Tuesday meetings senators give audience to parties requesting money, vote on pending proposals and discuss finances. Here is an outlined summary of the most recent senate meeting, which was held October 23.

NEW PROPOSALS

  • Commuter potluck and movie night—$200
  • Thursday, Nov. 8.
  • Paying for ink and paper that will be used for printing ads.
  • Senators providing the main course. Attendees will be assigned other foods to bring.
  • Horton slip-and-slide event reimbursement—$200 for expenses incurred by Horton senator Nate Mitchell while running the event.
  • A tarp and soap were purchased on Mitchell’s personal credit card.

VOTING (senate voted on this week’s proposals)

  • Horton slip-and-slide event reimbursement—$200, PASSED
  • Commuter potluck and movie night—$200, PASSED

VP of Finance Update

-$7,500 still needs to be paid for the AS website

Miscellaneous

  • Discussion of how AS can help fire victims: one idea was a “food rally” to help those stranded at Qualcomm stadium, another was something to help out firefighters
  • Punk ‘n Pie talent show happening Friday.
  • Biola Fest happening Nov. 3.
  • Ideas discussed for Spring Banquet
  • Talk of setting aside money for purchasing movie rights, so more movies can legally be shown on-campus.
