Biola women’s golf team finished seventh after the second day of the tournament. Each individual player improved their score, and the whole team’s score improved from 320 to 307.  The team finished above Grand Valley State, who was ranked 20 by the WCGA (Women’s Golf Coaches Association).

TURNQUIST DOMINATES

Junior Brady Turnquist went from tied in sixth place to second overall and also led all the competition in par 4’s scoring meaning that going into the tournament they were expected on average to take 4 hits to make it into the hole. Adding to this impressive feat, Turnquist got six birdies on the second round; meaning, she got one stroke under her expected four strokes.

Sophomore Rachel Shaw improved by a stroke, giving her a tie for 33rd out of 76 competitors while sophomore Melanie Reyes improved drastically as she went from tied for 70th place to tied for 54th.

The women’s golf team looks ahead to its next competition March 20 at the Patriot Invitational at the Poppy Hills Golf Club.
