On the evening of Friday, Nov. 4, the Urban Knights came to Biola swinging and held the Eagles to just 52 points on the night, while Academy of Art scored 75 points to win. During the matchup, Biola never led in the first or third sets. They did briefly lead in the second set, but their lead never surpassed a two point advantage.

SWEEPS ON THE SEASON

Oddly enough, the last time these two teams met the result was a sweep as well, but with the Eagles as victor. The Eagles will conclude the regular season with a 1-1 record against the Urban Knights after playing two lopsided matches. The Urban Knights sit at a 6-20 record after this match, compared to Biola’s 15-10 record.

While the first and third sets were not close, Biola kept the second set relatively close. Their largest lead came on a kill by senior outside hitter, Madison Beebe, who led the team with seven kills on the night. Biola kept the score close for a bit until the Urban Knights pulled ahead and cemented their lead.

Up next, Biola looks to bounce back on senior night, when Point Loma comes to town on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. Stats from the match can be found on the Biola Athletics website.

Ryan Wingert is a senior political science major who loves sports, writing and being with friends. I was born in Sioux City, Iowa and lived there until I was five years old. Then in 2005, my dad’s job took my family out here to southern California. After I graduated high school in 2018, I went to community college. I then transferred here to Biola in the midst of the COVID pandemic in 2020.  I love sports, both playing and watching. Basketball, baseball and American football are my favorite sports. I am so excited to be with the Chimes where I get to watch Biola sporting events and write about them! My teams are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Broncos, and the Anaheim Angels. They haven’t been great lately, but my love for the games have pushed me to continue watching them in their abysmal years!  Growing up, I have always loved writing. It was always my favorite part of school through primary school. My future is very unknown, but while I am looking into becoming a lawyer one day, becoming a writer would be an amazing job as well!
