Biola women’s soccer (4-11-1, 3-6-0) lost a close one to the Hawaii Pacific Sharks (4-11-1, 3-6-0) 0-1.

This game almost got away from Biola at the beginning as the Sharks put up a shot on goal within the first minute — but goalie Savannah Taveres was there for the save, her first of four in the first half for the Eagles that left both teams scoreless. Biola racked up five shots in this time compared to the Sharks’ seven, but both teams came up empty.

The second half started quietly from a scoring standpoint, although Taveres stayed diligent as she recorded three more saves in the first twenty-five minutes. The same held true for Hawaii Pacific goalie Sophia Garrido as the teams exchanged shots throughout the remainder of the second half.

Following her eighth save of the game, Tavares finally let one goal slip in during the seventy- fifth minute, which gave the Sharks a tight 1-0 lead. Biola kept the Sharks’ defense vigilant, and, although the Eagles put up two more shots on goal, both were saved and the Eagles left their stadium after dropping a close one 0-1.

Biola looks ahead to their final game of the season on Saturday Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. against Holy Names.
