Biola University’s men’s soccer team defeated Hawaii Pacific 4-0 at Al Barbour Field on Monday night. Before the match, nine senior soccer players were honored as a homage to senior night. Kristian Colaci, Aidan Hill, Oscar Rubalcava, Mortiz Reigel, Clement Michelet, Theo Leo Calve, Izaac Zausch, Haiko Hovak and JD Gunn played the final home game of their soccer careers at Biola.

COLACI FIFTH IN NATIONAL RANKINGS

Colaci and Le Calve spectacularly represented their fellow seniors on senior night. Both players scored two goals apiece against the Sharks, leading the Eagles to victory. Colaci’s multi-goal match brought his season total to 15 and tied him nationally for fifth-most goals scored in NCAA Division II men’s soccer. Le Calve chipped in his two goals in the 24th and 30th minute off penalty kicks, while also providing an assist on Colaci’s first goal.

“Both [Colaci and Le Calve] have been doing a great job leading all year and I think tonight was no different. I’m really excited that they could both finish their senior careers at home with goals and assists,” said head coach Joey O’Keefe on Colaci and Le Calve’s performance on Monday night.

GUNN “PITCHES” ANOTHER SHUTOUT

Gunn continued his defensive dominance at goalie, making three saves and recording his sixth shutout of the season. The Eagles’ defense held their opponents scoreless in the last three matches. O’Keefe attributed the defensive success as a result of his team’s work ethic in practice.

“It’s a really good testament to how hard the guys have been working in practice every single day to make sure they’re well prepared for games,” O’Keefe said.

Biola plays their final match of the season on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1:15 p.m. against Holy Names.

Caleb Crawley is a junior Interdisciplinary Studies major who enjoys attending sporting events, playing intramural sports and exploring Los Angeles. [email protected] I was born and raised in Fortuna, a small Northern California town located in Humboldt County. Humboldt is an area known for its scenic nature, beaches, redwood forests and our Victorian village known as Ferndale, CA.  Growing up in Northern California during the 2010’s San Francisco Giants dynasty made it easy to fall in love with baseball. Nearly every night I would be glued to the television after my Little League games watching my beloved Giants. At the time I could name every single player on their roster, as well as their batting average. Needless to say, my childhood revolved around the game as I was either playing, watching, or reading about baseball. This passion carried me throughout my high school and community college careers, in which I was on the baseball team during my time at both institutions.  I am elated to bring my love for sports to the Chimes and look forward to the opportunity to tell the stories of Biola athletes from the perspective of a former collegiate baseball player as well as an avid life-long sports fan.
