Women’s tennis add to their win streak

The Eagles take an easy win versus MTU and sweep Holy Names University the following day, 7-0.

Women’s tennis played two back-to-back home games on March 8-9 versus Michigan Tech University and won, 4-0, due to the lack of players for the Huskies. The Eagles faced off against Holy Names University on Wednesday and continued the win streak with another clean sweep earning a score of 7-0.

MICHIGAN TECH FALLS SHORT

The Eagles were able to defeat Michigan Tech with ease due to a lack of opponents. Biola played two doubles matches—pair redshirt sophomore Colbeyshae Emery and redshirt junior Mary Brascia won their match, 6-0. The Eagles won three matches by forfeit and left four matches unfinished. Despite this the Eagles earned another win, 4-0. 

THE EAGLES SOAR

The winning momentum continued into the competition against HNU and the Eagles were able to win overall, 7-0. For the doubles portion of the day sophomore Gaby Carvajal and redshirt junior Ines Diaz won 6-1, while Emery and Fager left their match unfinished BU earned another win by forfeit due to lack of opponents. 

In the singles portion the Eagles were able to play and win four matches as they took two wins by forfeit due to lack of players from HNU. Sophomore Lily McNeill played three sets, losing the first set, winning the second and taking it all, 10-8, in set three. 

Women’s tennis (12-1) will head to Irvine, California to face off against Concordia University Irvine on Saturday, March 12 at 11 a.m. Footage and stats from the game are located on the Biola Athletics website.

I enrolled in community college and started working. I didn't really know what I wanted to do. I took one photography class and I knew this is what I want to do. My love for journalism, photography, and sports started on the sidelines of my high school football field. Every single game junior-senior year you could find me on the sidelines taking photos or getting a quote from a coach. I have never been athletic but I enjoy watching and learning about all different sports. I love telling stories. This is just my first year at Biola as a transfer student and first semester at The Chimes but I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
