Men’s tennis sweep two days in a row

The Eagles annihilate both Michigan Tech and Holy Names, 7-0.

Men’s tennis played two back-to-back home games on March 8-9 versus Michigan Tech University and won, 7-0. The Eagles also competed against Holy Names University and continued the win streak of seven with another clean sweep, earning a score of 7-0.

MICHIGAN TECH

The Eagles won every single and doubles match against the Huskies. Juniors Alexei Prokopchuk and Antonio Varona won their match, 6-1. Junior Sebastian Herrera and graduate Carlos Solorzano followed with another win, 6-1. To end off the doubles sophomore pair Isaac Cordova and Callen Hein took the win, 6-3. The Eagles won overall, 7-0.

HOLY NAMES

The success from Tuesday’s match carried into Wednesday as the Eagles swept Holy Names, 7-0. The Eagles won every single and won two of their doubles matches versus the Hawks. Prokopchuk and Varona improved their final score from the previous day and won their match, 6-0. Herrera and Solorzano had a near-identical score of 6-1. Cordova and Hein scored 4-1 in the first set and left the match unfinished. 

Similar to Tuesday’s competition the Eagles were able to win every singles match, adding to their win streak and overall standing. 

Men’s tennis (10-2) will head to Irvine, California to face off against Concordia University Irvine on Friday, March 11 at 1 p.m. Footage and stats from the game are located on the Biola Athletics website.

Every single game junior-senior year you could find me on the sidelines taking photos or getting a quote from a coach. I have never been athletic but I enjoy watching and learning about all different sports. I love telling stories. This is just my first year at Biola as a transfer student and first semester at The Chimes but I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
