Women’s basketball start a win streak

The Eagles defeat the Toros in a conference challenge, 72-69.

Women’s basketball faced off against the California State University of Dominguez Hills Toros on Nov. 13 in Los Angeles, California. Biola hustled on the court and won their second game of the season, 72-69. The Eagles finished the game with a total of 15 turnover points, 14 second chance points and 32 points in the paint.

Freshman guard Amiah Simmons shined and led the Eagles scoring 20 points, two steals and seven rebounds. Redshirt sophomore guard Stephanie Lee contributed to defense with 19 points and four rebounds. Redshirt sophomore forward Jordan Rabe made 10 points and gained 10 rebounds.

EAGLES CONQUER THE COURT

The Toros started off the first quarter by making a 3-pointer, but Biola was swift to respond with two points of their own. The Eagles were able to tie the score at five points, but ended the first quarter four points behind the Toros, 19-15. The Eagles quickly changed the rhythm and pulled ahead after tying the game at 19 points. Biola pulled ahead leaving CSUDH unable to decrease the deficit, finishing at the half, 43-36. 

Biola continued their lead into the 3rd quarter, 50-44. With eight minutes left in the game the Eagles had a 12-point lead. Biola finished off strong, holding their lead and winning against the Toros, 72-69.

Women’s basketball (2-0) will face off against the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos on Wednesday Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Kellogg Arena. Footage from today’s game can be found on the Biola Athletics website.

I enrolled in community college and started working. I didn't really know what I wanted to do. I took one photography class and I knew this is what I want to do. My love for journalism, photography, and sports started on the sidelines of my high school football field. Every single game junior-senior year you could find me on the sidelines taking photos or getting a quote from a coach. I have never been athletic but I enjoy watching and learning about all different sports. I love telling stories. This is just my first year at Biola as a transfer student and first semester at The Chimes but I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
