Men’s soccer traveled to San Diego on Wednesday evening to take on the Point Loma Nazarene University Sea Lions. What proved to be a low-scoring game found favor in PLNU, who snuck away with a one-score victory over the Eagles, 1-0.

HIGH INTENSITY

The first half showed competitive spirits, creating multiple chances for both teams to advance their offense. Biola found themselves one-on-one with a Sea Lion, but redshirt senior midfielder Theo Le Calve was unable to maneuver past the opponent to score.

SECOND HALF SLUMP

The remaining 45 minutes were in Point Loma’s control. The midfield game of the Sea Lions was too much for Biola to bear. The only score of the night came at the 61st minute, as PLNU broke through the Eagles’ defense.

In a final attempt to tie the game, redshirt junior midfielder Jonathan Serrano sent a bullet that was promising, but in the end was blocked by Point Loma. The Sea Lions found themselves with the win over the Eagles, 1-0.

Men’s soccer (5-4 overall, 1-1 PacWest) will head north to Fresno Pacific University on Saturday evening to take on the Sunbirds at 7:30 p.m. Footage from today’s game can be found on the Biola Athletics website.

[email protected]  Originally from a small farm town in Ohio, I have put aside my corn shucking gloves to embrace a new life in the Angel City to study sports journalism. It is true what they say about culture shock and LA traffic. I am used to being late to work because of getting stuck behind a John Deere tractor, but now it is because of gridlock on the I5. However, I have quickly adjusted to the city life and haven’t looked back since. I moved from the midwest out to Los Angeles over two years ago. Since then my life has changed in big ways. I have learned the importance of pursuing my dreams in order to make them a reality. Sports have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From the time I was able to stand up on my own, there was always a ball in my hand. Basketball quickly became my MO. I was involved in multiple athletic organizations, traveling on AAU teams and playing my way through my middle and high school league. My passion for the sport is what inspired me to pursue a career in sports journalism. Being at a place like Biola that has an abundance of opportunities has allowed me to expand from my small-town roots, and that is something I am truly thankful for.
