Men’s soccer faced defeat against California State University, San Bernardino, gaining their first loss of the season, 2-1. The Coyotes came out howling, making it evident they were here to dominate. In the first 15 minutes CSUSB had four shots on goal, while the Eagles only had one.

The Coyotes attempted two shots to the bottom center early on, which senior goalkeeper Luis Rodriguez saved. Unfortunately, at the 18-minute mark the Coyotes made the only goal of the first half.

 SECOND HALF SADNESS

The Coyotes went into the second half with a 1-0 advantage, which motivated the Eagles’ offense to step it up. Biola recorded two shots on goal in the first four minutes, leading redshirt senior forward Malik Shaheed to tie the game, 1-1. However, San Bernardino soon responded by regaining control of the ball and attempted six shots, ultimately making their second goal and winning the game, 2-1.

Men’s soccer (3-1) will return home to face California State University, Los Angeles on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. Footage and stats from today’s game is located on Biola Athletics’ Website.

Natalie Hernandez is a junior journalism major who loves cooking with her boyfriend, enjoys photo adventures, and new experiences. [email protected] I was born and raised in California, but I have always moved around. Although I have always lived here I have never missed the opportunity to get out of LA. My father is an immigrant and my mother is first-generation Mexican. I am the first in my family to attend college and I am proud of that. School does not come easy to me and I am glad I have pushed myself. I went to college in Seattle, WA but moved back due to my mother getting sick. When I got back to LA, I hit the ground running. I enrolled in community college and started working. I didn't really know what I wanted to do. I took one photography class and I knew this is what I want to do. My love for journalism, photography, and sports started on the sidelines of my high school football field. Every single game junior-senior year you could find me on the sidelines taking photos or getting a quote from a coach. I have never been athletic but I enjoy watching and learning about all different sports. I love telling stories. This is just my first year at Biola as a transfer student and first semester at The Chimes but I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
