Following the record hitting movie “Endgame,” Marvel draws fans right back into the cinematic universe storyline. In “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” previous background characters such as Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson rise to take on larger roles.

REMNANTS OF CAPTAIN AMERICA

Many of the Marvel shows and movies that have come out since 2019 have focused mainly on Tony Stark and the loss of Iron Man. In “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” Peter Parker was questioned if he was going to take Stark’s place as the new Iron Man. However, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” truly focuses on those who were close to Captain America, the people who are trying to replace him and the personal growth of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes after losing their friend.

With tributes and mentions to Steve Rogers, previously played by Chis Evans, fans are finally able to fully grieve the loss of this classic superhero. In “Endgame” Rogers travels back in time, leaving his shield with Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie. The show starts with Wilson giving it away to the government as part of an exhibit on Captain America, but after being tricked, they try to create a “new Captain America.”

DIFFICULT PATH TO FOLLOW

With the explosion of popularity coming from “WandaVision,” released in January 2021, fans were not quite sure what to expect with “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” Filled with humour, heartbreaking past mistakes and a storyline for Bucky Barnes that has been so desired by fans, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” helps bring gaps to a bunch of confusion that fans felt with the ending of Captain America’s storyline.

In February, “WandaVision’s” first two episodes had been watched more than 6.5 million times within America. However, according to Parrot Analytic, “The Falcon And The Winter Soldier” has 26.2 times the demand of the average TV series in the United States in the last 30 days.

Although only four episodes in, the rest of the season looks promising and fans are getting excited for more Marvel movies to come out in 2021. New episodes of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” come out every Friday on Disney+.

Growing up I never thought I would actually have the chance to leave my hometown of Keizer, Oregon but as college approached my dreams began to work out as I drove 15 hours to a new home, Biola University. These last four years have been a whirlwind of growth and healing. New passions and ideas for my future develop daily, but one thing I have held onto since I was 18 has been photography. I love being able to capture moments and events.  I grew up watching 13 Going on 30 and the original Spiderman movies where the main characters were journalists whether through a magazine or doing freelance photojournalism. I believe that is where my initial interest in journalism began. I have worked with the Chimes previously being an Arts & Entertainment writer, but I am so excited to pursue my main passion of photojournalism as a staff photographer.
