Women’s basketball traveled to Irvine, Calif. on Saturday afternoon to round out their shortened season against Concordia University Irvine. Biola lost to CUI just last night, however, they were able to turn the tables and defeat the Golden Eagles in a 84-67 win.

EAGLE’S COMEBACK

Sophomore guard Stephanie Lee led Biola’s offense with 20 points and four assists. Sophomore forward Madi Chang popped off for 17 points on seven of eight from the field and three of four from behind the arc. Senior forward Jazz Benn was solid on all aspects of the game, earning 13 points, seven assists and four rebounds.

The Eagles entered the first quarter with energy that could not be matched. A quick 23-9 lead swiftly transformed into a 39-23 halftime lead. The team did not back down coming out of the locker room, as Biola found 23 points from bench players compared to Concordia’s nine. The momentum continued through the third, but as per usual, the Eagles let the lead slip in the fourth quarter—a CUI 25-15 run. Thankfully, Biola produced enough buckets in the first three quarters to maintain the lead and still go out with a victory, 84-67.

The Eagles ended the regular season with a 4-9 PacWest record for 2021.

[email protected]  Originally from a small farm town in Ohio, I have put aside my corn shucking gloves to embrace a new life in the Angel City to study sports journalism. It is true what they say about culture shock and LA traffic. I am used to being late to work because of getting stuck behind a John Deere tractor, but now it is because of gridlock on the I5. However, I have quickly adjusted to the city life and haven’t looked back since. I moved from the midwest out to Los Angeles over two years ago. Since then my life has changed in big ways. I have learned the importance of pursuing my dreams in order to make them a reality. Sports have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From the time I was able to stand up on my own, there was always a ball in my hand. Basketball quickly became my MO. I was involved in multiple athletic organizations, traveling on AAU teams and playing my way through my middle and high school league. My passion for the sport is what inspired me to pursue a career in sports journalism. Being at a place like Biola that has an abundance of opportunities has allowed me to expand from my small-town roots, and that is something I am truly thankful for.
