Women’s tennis win big against Saint Katherine

Biola conquers the court winning all their matches, 7-0.

Biola tennis is back and swinging into action. The Eagles played at home against the University of Saint Katherine Firebirds and won their first game of the season this afternoon, 7-0.

Double teams freshman Colbey Shae Emery and sophomore Mary Brascia finished with a final score 6-0. Senior Madison Swaney and freshman Amelia Kitts swung their way to victory, 6-3. Freshmen Brooke Fager and Lilly McNeil had a final score of 6-4.

SINGLES SWEEP

At the top of the stat sheet sophomore Ines Diaz and McNeill scored six in both sets during their individual matches. Brascia followed close behind having 6-1 in her first set and 6-0 in her second. Freshman Gaby Carvajal, Emery, and Fager won their individual matches putting the Eagles at a final score 7-0, winning it all against the Firebirds.

The Eagles (1-0) will return home to the Biola Tennis Center with Concordia University Irvine on Friday, Feb. 12 starting at 2:30 p.m. The match is available to watch live on the Biola Athletics page.

My love for journalism, photography, and sports started on the sidelines of my high school football field. Every single game junior-senior year you could find me on the sidelines taking photos or getting a quote from a coach. I have never been athletic but I enjoy watching and learning about all different sports. I love telling stories. This is just my first year at Biola as a transfer student and first semester at The Chimes but I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
