Q: WHAT IS YOUR NAME, YEAR AND MAJOR?
A: Anna Vollema, grad student, double Masters in New Testament and a Masters in Old Testament.
Q: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS?
A: 1. Passionate
- Free-spirited
- Scatterbrained
Q: WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT? WHAT DO YOU LOVE DOING?
A: “I’m passionate about knowing God, and that’s knowing God in his character fully. Not just how I want to perceive him, but how he is expressed in Scripture. I am passionate about knowing him, and I am passionate about helping others to do so as well.”
Q: WHEN AND HOW DID YOU START BECOMING PASSIONATE ABOUT IT?
A: “I grew up in a Christian home, but I would not say that I was a true Christian until I was about 14 or 15. And it’s not as though my church over-preached on the wrath of God or anything like that, but I had in my head that I was too dirty to be accepted by God. And then in coming to Biola, some wounds from my own past began to heal. That’s when, all of the sudden, I fell in love with this God. So I really think the passion that I have now really was formed through my Biola undergrad and through those minor Bible classes that I had.”
Q: HOW DOES YOUR PASSION MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON?
A: “I think passion kind of drives all of who we are. When somebody’s passionate about something, they want it to mark all of who they are… that passion for God—because I am passionate about him—it drives me to allow it to mark every aspect of my life.”
Q: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW YOU FOR IN 10 YEARS?
A: “I think to be someone that lived fully for the glory of God, in every element of my life. Not just in how it’s convenient to me, not just in the truths that I like, or the truths that are easy to me, or the areas of life that are easy for me, but that I gave full abandon of every area of my life to living for God. And that also envelopes how I live for others as well. I also gave full abandon to loving others well, and not being selfish with my time, and being someone that was relationally generous.”
