AS President Eric Weaver announced the results of today’s AS elections, and the winners are presidential candidate Mark Heath and vice presidential candidate Justin DeVesta.

Heath-DeVesta earned 53 percent of the vote, while Cameron Spencer and running mate Shannon Tierney earned 47 percent. In the SMU race, Chris Reeder won over Kyle Shanebeck, one of this year’s Missions Conference co-directors.

Shortly after hearing the announcement, Heath was waiting by Fluor Fountain and taking in the news.

“The work has really just begun,” he said.

Asked when training begun, he said tomorrow. Other things on the president-elect’s plate include hiring next year’s staff.

He described the past week as “very intense,” but says it helped him grow personally and build relationships with the people who helped plan the campaign.

Heath and Spencer’s camps contacted each other, and Heath said the two shared a good word.
