The first thing you’ll notice about Fullerton’s Red Mango frozen yogurt store – or any Red Mango store for that matter – is the distinct color scheme.
The frozen yogurt chain takes the red in its name seriously with the vibrant hue extending from chairs with “o” shaped backs to red lamps hanging delicately from the ceiling. Before entering the yogurt shop, you’d probably never seen so much red in one place in your life …
… or tasted such good yogurt, either.
From its opening in July, with Mochilato as its competitor just two doors down, Red Mango strives to serve its customers during the sweltering summer months through discounts and longer hours.
“All customers who present their student IDs get 10 percent off,” said store manager Steve Hoang. “Also, Red Mango is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and we are currently trying to extend our hours to either 12 or 1 a.m.”
In addition to their appeal to the late-night crowd, which ranges from families to college students, Red Mango attracts attention from fro-yo fanatics because of its real yogurt. While the shop may give you a Pinkberry déjà vu with its similar yogurt flavors and toppings, Hoang readily responded that Red Mango creates an entirely different product.
“Red Mango is more about quality,” he said. “We do not put additives in our yogurt, we do not use high fructose or preservatives, and we use fresh fruits and non-fat milk.”
Red Mango offers its frozen yogurt flavors in three main sizes – small, medium and large. In addition to frozen yogurt, blended smoothies are Red Mango’s specialty. Red Mango is located at 1993 W. Malvern Ave. in Fullerton.
