A POP OF COLOR

Ladies, if you like to dress in simple, lighter tones, make your outfit pop with large, bright accessories. The best way to do this is with colorful handbags or statement clutches. For our photoshoot, a red mini tote from Free People complemented our model’s simple outfit. There are many affordable places that carry totes and other crossbody bags like Forever 21, H&M and my personal favorite, Urban Outfitters. Do not be afraid to choose bright colors to complement your outfits. On the other hand, for those drawn to bolder looks, statement clutches are another way to let your outfits speak for themselves. Websites like Modcloth and ASOS provide a large selection of unique statement clutches you can choose from. Our model is carrying a neon yellow clutch from Buffalo Exchange — do not be afraid to go thrifting!

EARRINGS AND SUNGLASSES

Accessorizing from the neck up can be difficult at times. The two most important things to keep in mind for this season are sunglasses and statement earrings. It can be easy to find fun, quirky earrings from stores like Forever 21, H&M and even Target. When you pair jewelry with your outfits, be sure to color coordinate them correctly. Sunglasses are also conveniently easy to find at local retail stores. Our model wears sunglasses from Urban Outfitters, which is a great place to hunt for shades since their incredibly large selection includes frames of all shapes and colors. The current go-to shades are tortoise-framed sunglasses, since you can almost never go wrong when pairing these with an outfit.

PLATFORM SHOES

Lastly, a lady’s outfit is never complete without the perfect pair of shoes to tie the ensemble together. This season’s favorite shoes are platforms. With trends like boyfriend jeans and floral print, platforms are undoubtedly appropriate. Steve Madden carries some of the most popular platforms on the market, but if your budget is tight, ASOS is an easy online store that also carries platforms — such as the platforms that our model is wearing.

LEATHER BAGS

For men, accessorizing is just as important. To begin with, leather bags are coming in hot for the new season. Popular designers like Gucci, Versace, Bottega Veneta and Phillip Lim all included leather bags on the runways for their new spring collections. Fossil and J. Crew carry a flawless collection of leather bags for men, but if looking into invest in something even cheaper, Target and Macy’s are your best bet. Our model sported a vintage leather bag from Fossil.

HATS AND SUNGLASSES

As for neck up, sunglasses and hats are the key accessories for spring. For those with simpler taste, sunglasses like Ray Bans Aviators never go out of style and match well with neutral tones. For an edgier style, the sleek black Classic Ray Bans like the pair our model is wearing pair well with darker tones. Similar versions of these sunglasses are easy to find in stores like H&M and Urban Outfitters. Lastly, spring weather demands hats. J. Crew’s spring collection includes different styles of bucket hats and during Fashion Week in Paris, Saint Laurent featured a few different wide brimmed hats on the runway. For guys, I have found that wide-brimmed hats are most popular for this season, such as the Brixton hat from Urban Outfitters our model is wearing. The brand Brixton carries an excellent collection of affordable men’s hats and is mostly sold at Urban Outfitters and PacSun.
