Q: What is your name, year and major?

A: Megan Yip, sophomore art major.

Q: How would you describe yourself in three words?

A: 1. Loud

2. Loyal

3. Weird

Q: What are you passionate about? What do you love doing?

A: “I love making art, for sure. If I wasn’t doing that, I don’t know what I’d be doing.”

Q: When and how did you start becoming passionate about it?

A: “When I was little, I used to draw with my brother a lot, so it started there. As the years went by, I took art classes every now and then. Middle school, I kind of took a break from art. Then in high school, my high school teacher really pushed me. I loved doing art and everything about it. He helped encourage me and get me into it again.”

Q: How does your passion make you a better person?

A: “I’m more detail oriented now. I care about the little things. Because, again, with my high school teacher, a lot of what I did in that class was hyperrealism kind of stuff. So when I would look at a picture, I would notice every little detail. And I noticed I started looking at other things in the world with that lens. Like my friends when I talk to them, I pay a lot of attention to them when they’re talking. When I sit down and just look around, I just look at everything in very close detail.”

Q: What would you like people to know you for in 10 years?

A: “In 10 years, if just the friends I make in college remember me, I want them to remember me for being a good friend. I know that sounds weird and cheesy, but I really care about what people think. I care that they know that I care, so if that’s what I’m remembered for, that’s good.”
