Campus Safety executed a search on campus this afternoon for a suspect who claims to be in possession of a gun. Although the campus is not on lockdown, if anyone observes the suspect they are asked not to approach him, but to call Campus Safety immediately at 562-777-4000.

The suspect is described as a 55 year-old Native American male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Campus Safety received a call from the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station at 11:32 a.m. regarding an individual making threats against Seal Beach and La Mirada. Initially the individual called a health care agency in Anaheim to inform them that he was in possession of a gun and that he intended to kill people. Seal Beach was his original target, but then he changed his mind to La Mirada, specifically Biola, said Campus Safety Chief John Ojeisekhoba. Upon receiving this information, the agency then called Norwalk’s sheriff station to inform them of the threat.

After receiving the call, Campus Safety searched campus for the suspect. Resident directors inspected campus dormitories and facilities management searched other buildings on campus.

Through the Automatic Firearms System, the Norwalk Sheriff’s Department found that the suspect is not a registered gun holder.
