Students, staff and faculty can park their cars on the first level of the long-awaited parking structure, located behind Alpha Hall, today. Opening the first floor will provide over 100 new parking spaces to campus.

A building inspector approved the structure for partial occupancy on Tuesday, said senior director of facilities management Brian Phillips. The approval allows the structure to open on schedule, coinciding with the original projected completion date of April 2.

Completely opening the parking structure depends on the installation and inspection of the elevator, Phillips said. Installation of the elevator is scheduled for Friday, however an elevator inspector may not be available to come for another week. Phillips said they hope to open the whole structure on April 10.
