Whether it’s trying to keep up with the fashion trends or attempting to capture the attention of that cute boy in biology class, here are different tips from fashion experts regarding stylish trends for fall 2008!

STYLES
→ Bell Shapes: This fall, dresses, skirts and jackets that draw attention to the waist (known as “bell-curved” designs) are especially popular. Such items should be accompanied by a thin belt.
→ Loading on the Layers: Long and layered silhouettes are helpful for elongating one’s frame. Long coats are often paired with even longer slacks.
→ Mix-and-Match: Leggings are a versatile staple. Whether they dress an outfit up or down slightly, or simply provide additional warmth, pairing a tunic top or shorter dress with leggings adds another dimension to your look.

COLORS
→ Keeping it Simple: Monochrome tones are in this fall, especially forest green. One noteworthy exception is blue: this year, any variation of blue is considered fashionable for fall.
→ Prints and Plaids: Wilder prints (zebra and leopard) are all the rage, as are country-style plaids and tweeds.

CONTINUING TRENDS
→ Sticking with the Seventies: Fashionable items from the 1970s, such as wide-legged pants, continue to be trendy in 2008, although they were considered “must-haves” last fall. The maxi skirt, a full-length skirt, continues to be ever popular this fall.
→ “Black” to Basics: Black never gets old, especially with the influx of popular dark hues this fall.

ACCESSORIES
Stylish outfits just aren’t the same without accessories. Here are two suggestions from the “Vogue” website regarding these fall necessities.
→ Noticeable Necklaces: Larger-than-life necklaces are the new craze that attracts attention to any outfit. Dainty, thin necklaces can be saved for fancier occasions…heavy metal necklaces add a fun and funky flavor to a variety of outfits.
→ Feminine Bags: While heavier, “masculine” necklaces are popular this fall, the opposite is true when it comes to bags. Lacey, delicate and feminine bags can be perfect for a social night or church because of their versatile fabrics.
