Despite a car crashing into the Li Apartments early Friday morning, both the driver and apartments sustained only minor damage.

The male driving, who was unrelated to Biola, was examined by paramedics, but had no injuries.

“He’s been awake since early this morning, and fell asleep, and doesn’t know how this happened,” said Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Detective Steve Boyer.

Boyer added that the driver was tested for driving under the influence, and was not found to be intoxicated.

Gary Phillips, a junior psychology major, was returning from a late-night doughnut run, when he saw the situation and checked it out, finding it exciting.

Li did receive minor structural damage. The black Infiniti FX35 was still running, despite receiving minimal damage to the hood.

This marks the second time in the past year that a car has crashed into a building at Biola. Tonight’s incident occurs just under a year after a woman drove into the Talon, causing a glass door to shatter.

LASD is handling the situation, though Campus Safety was on the scene.
