The Day of Prayer invites students and faculty alike to pray, seeking God and asking for his will to be done. On Oct. 5, beginning at 7 a.m., Biola’s Student Missionary Union will hold events and times of prayer throughout the day, with the help of 100 SMU staff members and volunteers. The Day of Prayer has taken place once a semester since 2003, according to the research of SMU’s director of prayer Stephen Croft.

“Biola holds a day of prayer each semester, but has a history of committed student prayer, with global prayer groups starting back to the 1920s,” Croft wrote.

For the past eight years, president Barry Corey has spoken on each day of prayer and communion has been celebrated each time.

Biola also celebrates the national Day of Prayer, which occurs annually on the first Thursday in May.
