Michael Pierce will assume the position of vice president for business and financial affairs, President Barry Corey recently announced.

Pierce assumes the vacancy left by Carl Schreiber, who left Biola University after 22 years of service in spring to become the vice president of Patrick Henry College in Virginia. Dave Koontz has served in an interim role during the search process.

Pierce presently works as senior director of finance and administration at the Center for Innovation and Strategic Collaboration, a company within St. Jude Medical Inc., and his resume includes two decades of experience in business and financial management.

“A gifted leader and communicator, Mike will bring to this important position a deep commitment to Christ, a high level of integrity, a track record of leading strong teams, years of professional administration at high levels of finance and business management and a strong sense of God’s calling,” Corey wrote in a news release.

As the chief financial officer, Pierce will be one of the seven members of the President’s Administrative Council. His role will include overseeing the university budget, real estate assets and other financial interests.

Pierce and his wife, Brenda, live in Mission Viejo and have two sons, one of whom attends Biola. A community reception will be held in August for Pierce.
