Hidden in Plain Sight

This week’s hidden in plain sight is best enjoyed in the early morning hours. Grab a coffee or some caramels, and prepare yourself to sit and ponder.

Make your way toward lower campus. As you walk under the trees running alongside the baseball field, feel the morning dew as it slowly drips off the leaves and dampens the ground you walk upon. Let the morning freshness take over and give a sense of peace to your walk.

Walk past Hope dormitory, noticing the sunlight as it glistens off the roofs of cars in the parking lot to your left. Continue on and reach Stewart’s front side. Once you’ve walked to the middle of the dorm, turn left across the parking lot. You will find yourself alongside the fecal creek. Walk along is edge until you reach a bench, sitting alone and facing the concrete river as it slowly flows by.

You’ve reached this week’s hidden place once you’ve settled into the bench, felt its imperfections and watched a paddling of ducks wade through the water. Their quacks and the sound of the wind as it whistles through the trees above you bring peace only the morning can provide.

Let this bench become a place to prepare for each coming day, basking in the morning glory; hidden in plain sight.
