Biola University received a $40 million donation from a Silicon Valley executive to advance tech education programs. The funds will go towards building two new engineering garages and laboratories, establishing endowed professorships and student scholarships, equipment, research partnerships and academic and career development opportunities for our students within the tech division of the School of Science, Technology and Health.
President Barry Corey announced the news on Wednesday morning during the opening moments of the annual Torrey Memorial Bible Conference. With students packed into Chase Gymnasium, the lights dimmed and dramatic music played as a drone flew overhead and delivered a red envelope to the university president. Corey read this message from the anonymous donor, expressing their confidence in the rising generation of Biola university students,
“In this moment of extraordinary change, we need leaders who not only understand innovation, but who are guided by wisdom, humility and conviction. I believe Biola can be a catalyst for raising up such leaders, individuals who will bring both intellectual brilliance and moral clarity to the forefront of the world’s most pressing challenges.”

“This is a landmark moment for Biola,” said Corey in a Biola press release, . “The generosity behind this gift will have a ripple effect for decades to come. The gift allows us to build forward-thinking programs that not only educate and equip students in emerging technologies but also to prepare them to lead with moral conviction and Christian character.”
