Volleyball ends season with a win against Concordia

After a back-and-forth game, the Eagles defeat the Golden Eagles 3-2.

Ending the season with a bang, Biola defeated Concordia Irvine University 3-2 in Irvine, Calif. on Nov. 12.

By the end of the game, the Eagles totaled 58 kills, eight aces, 12 blocks and 87 digs. Sophomore right side Anna Aubele led offense with 15 kills followed by redshirt junior outside hitter Dominique Kirton with 14 kills. Redshirt senior setter Abby Brewster had a whopping 40 assists while first-year defense specialist Bri Bellfi contributed to defense with seven assists and 23 digs. The Eagles totaled 78 points throughout the game.

NOT A CHANCE

Concordia started off strong on their home court, scoring the first three points. Biola scored after a service error from the Golden Eagles. Concordia scored the next four points with Bellfi leading off with the first kill for Biola. Concordia quickly blocked the Eagles from scoring another point. The set went back and forth with the Eagles playing keep-up with the Golden Eagles, ultimately losing the first set 17-25.

The second set was immediately hopeful for Biola as they capitalized on a bad set by Concordia. The Golden Eagles scored the next point and the set went back and forth from there. Biola won the set 25-20. Concordia scored the first two points of the third set but the Eagles scored five points right after. The game quickly went in the Golden Eagles’ favor as they caught up to Biola. The set ended in a loss for the Eagles, 19-25. 

The game was not over, however, as the Eagles came back with a win in the fourth set. Concordia was quick to score first, but Biola dominated  the set, scoring 25-15. Now tied, the Eagles and the Golden Eagles went head-to-head to determine the winner of the last game of the season. Biola ended up the first to 15 points with a sneaky kill off the fingertips by senior outside hitter Madison Beebe.

The Eagles beat the Golden Eagles 3-2.
