Men’s basketball traveled to Cal State University, Los Angeles on Saturday, Nov. 9 looking for a win after a tough loss to Cal State University, San Marcos just yesterday. The Eagles were unable to put together an offense that topped the Golden Eagles. CSULA led the entire game, with the largest lead being 21 points late during the second half. The results reflected the energy given by each team: Cal State LA, 78, Biola, 69.

The first half was a struggle for the Eagles and they went into the half down 11 points. However, the Eagles went on a 24-4 run against CSULA in the second half, cutting the lead to just one point. Yet, the spark ignited in BU was put out by the Golden Eagles’ defense. Biola went 0-8 shooting after their explosive run, choking late once again and handing over the victory.

EAGLES IGNITED

It was another big night for senior guard Marquise Mosley, who racked up 22 points, four assists and three rebounds. Junior guard Michael Bagatourian IM stayed consistent with his numbers, putting up 19 points, six rebounds and two assists for BU. Junior forward Jesse Elrod stepped up for the Eagles, earning 12 points on 5-8 shooting, three rebounds and two assists. Sophomore guard Alex Wright and freshman guard Zanen Zeller both finished off the night with seven points of their own.

The Eagles (0-2) will take on La Sierra University at home in Chase Gymnasium on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

[email protected]  Originally from a small farm town in Ohio, I have put aside my corn shucking gloves to embrace a new life in the Angel City to study sports journalism. It is true what they say about culture shock and LA traffic. I am used to being late to work because of getting stuck behind a John Deere tractor, but now it is because of gridlock on the I5. However, I have quickly adjusted to the city life and haven’t looked back since. I moved from the midwest out to Los Angeles over two years ago. Since then my life has changed in big ways. I have learned the importance of pursuing my dreams in order to make them a reality. Sports have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From the time I was able to stand up on my own, there was always a ball in my hand. Basketball quickly became my MO. I was involved in multiple athletic organizations, traveling on AAU teams and playing my way through my middle and high school league. My passion for the sport is what inspired me to pursue a career in sports journalism. Being at a place like Biola that has an abundance of opportunities has allowed me to expand from my small-town roots, and that is something I am truly thankful for.
