Track and field ends regular season at CSU Fullerton

Track and field competed in the CSU Fullerton Titan Twilight Meet on Friday, giving a respectable performance in their last regular season meet.  

WOMEN STANDOUTS

The women made their mark in Fullerton. Freshman mid-distance runner Clara Haynes took home first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at a time of 11:21.45. She left her opponents in the dust, beating the second place finisher by crossing the finish line over two minutes ahead. Freshman mid-distance runner Siena Stacy was a top-8 finisher for Biola in the 800-meter. She put up her collegiate-best time of 2:19.06 in the event. Sophomore Hannah Hubbard competed in the triple jump, finishing in third, while junior Sarah Prystupa finished in fourth during the pole vault.

MIGHTY MEN

There were notable times earned on the men’s side as well. Sophomore distance runner Ryan St. Pierre placed first in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:02.14. Senior mid-distance runner Aditya Lal took fourth place in the 800-meter with a time of 1:55.34. Junior mid-distance runner Nic Nelson set his collegiate best time in the 800-meter clocking in at 1:55.60. Freshman sprints and jumps athlete Mathias Davis took his turn in competing in the 800-meter as well. He ran a 1:58.83 in his first 800m this year, earning himself eighth place.

The Eagles will return for their next meet in Winona Lake, Indiana to compete in the NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from May 8 to 10.

It is true what they say about culture shock and LA traffic. I am used to being late to work because of getting stuck behind a John Deere tractor, but now it is because of gridlock on the I5. However, I have quickly adjusted to the city life and haven’t looked back since. I moved from the midwest out to Los Angeles over two years ago. Since then my life has changed in big ways. I have learned the importance of pursuing my dreams in order to make them a reality. Sports have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From the time I was able to stand up on my own, there was always a ball in my hand. Basketball quickly became my MO. I was involved in multiple athletic organizations, traveling on AAU teams and playing my way through my middle and high school league. My passion for the sport is what inspired me to pursue a career in sports journalism. Being at a place like Biola that has an abundance of opportunities has allowed me to expand from my small-town roots, and that is something I am truly thankful for.
