Crime Log Feb. 5 – Feb. 12

This week’s crime log includes petty theft, a fire and trespassing with marijuana in a car.

Petty Theft — Blackstone Hall

Reported on Feb. 8, 7 p.m., occurred between Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. and Feb. 5 at 11 p.m.

A student reported sunglasses taken out of their backpack in Blackstone Hall. The student decided not to report the alleged theft to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, and the investigation remains active.

Trespassing — Lot R

Reported on Feb. 8, 10:50 p.m.

A Campus Safety officer noticed a person hiding in their car when driving by. The trespasser was identified as a non-student on campus to meet their friend. The officer discovered that the person had marijuana in their car. The individual was issued an official trespass advisory and left campus.

Fire (Intentional Cause) — Hope Hall

Reported on Feb. 9, 12:49 a.m., occurred at 12:19 a.m.

A burning smell was reported by a resident of Hope Hall. The fire department and facilities were able to locate the source of the smell — a student was burning documents. The residence hall was evacuated, but no part of the building caught fire. The resident that started the fire was referred to Student Development.
