The Biola men’s basketball team set out on a three game road trip to end their 10-game PacWest skid. They came out victorious on two of those occasions and still performed admirably in their only loss of the trip. One key reason included freshman forward Isaiah Jones, who nailed his shots when they came his way and led the team in rebounds over the stretch. Jones nearly achieved a double-double on Jan. 25 when he scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the 68-67 win over Holy Names University. He matched that point total in the following 60-52 win against Notre Dame de Namur University on Jan. 27. The Eagles lost their final game of the trip to the Academy of Art University, when Jones posted six points and six rebounds in a game where he fouled out with 4:27 remaining. Overall, he went 16-22 and 72.7 percent from the field, displaying his ability to pick and choose the right time to take his shots. Jones’ contributions to the Eagles’ first conference wins of the season and consistent play over the road trip earn him Chimes Athlete of the Week.
