Despite a school-record tying 29 offensive rebounds and 25 points from senior Megann Alberts, Biola could not keep up with sizzling three-point barrage by Lee University. The Eagles fell 96-75 to the Lady Flames in the second round of the NAIA Tournament on Friday afternoon in Jackson, Tenn.

The Flames hit 13 three-pointers in the win over Biola, which is only one shy of the NAIA Tournament record, and shot 56.6 percent from the field in the game. Biola did not play poorly: players ran their offense effectively and attacked the glass well, too. They just could not keep up with the blistering offensive pace set by Lee.

Sophomore Jenna French had 15 points and seven boards, with sophomore Jessilyn Conicelli and freshman Charrise Reece scoring 11 points each, but it was not enough to propel Biola to victory.

Alberts, the Eagles’ lone senior, scored a team-high 25 points – her third-best performance of the season – in the final game of her impressive Biola career. Alberts closes out her career as one of the best players in school history. Her 1,891 career points ranks third all-time at Biola while her 912 rebounds is second overall. She also ranks in the top 10 in rebounds per game (7.7, 3rd), points per game (15.9, 7th), blocks (118, 4th) and is 13th in assists (256) and 12th in field goal percentage (47.1).
