How often do you hear coaches say that doing the little things win basketball games? Maybe little things like rebounding and going strong to the hoop? Jessilyn Conicelli did both of those things with under five seconds left to put in the winning basket as Biola gets a hard fought road win over California Baptist in a GSAC game on Saturday night in Riverside.

The Eagles improve to 18-10 on the season and move into a fifth-place tie in the GSAC with The Master’s College at 10-9. The Lancers drop to 17-12 overall and are tied for seventh at 9-10 in conference play.

Conicelli filled up the stat sheet scoring 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and adding 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal. She also got some help from senior Megann Alberts, who contributed 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

This game was very tight throughout and there were many lead changes. Biola has struggled to put away teams this past month in close games, and had a scare late when Cal Baptist’s Brianne Estell was fouled with just one second to play. However, Estell missed both free throws and the Eagles secured the rebound and held on for the win.
