The Biola Eagles traveled to Walnut, California to play a doubleheader against Hope International on Friday. The Eagles came in and took care of business, sweeping Hope International on their home field by a score of 7-2 the first game and 5-2 the second game.
The Eagles displayed great hitting Friday, hammering out 25 hits between the two games. The Eagles wasted no time putting runs on the board. Junior Krista Johnson led off the first game with a home run and from then on the Eagles never looked back. Johnson and senior Keena Leverts both had five hits on the day. Sophomore Lyndsie Roberts was lights out as she allowed only four hits and just one earned run over seven innings while striking out eight to win her third game of the season.
In the second game it was a similar story all around. The Eagles’ bats were lively and the pitching was dominant. Sophomore Lauren Gandy help break the game open in the top of the fourth with a triple driving in Johnson and then scoring herself on a wild pitch. Leverts put the exclamation point on the win with a crushing home run in the sixth. Erica Moyer pitched exceptionally, allowing only six hits and just one run through seven innings, and struck out five to improve to 2-1 overall.
The Eagles improve to 5-2 on the season and 2-2 in GSAC play while dropping the Royals to 4-8 and 0-4 in the conference.
